Secret for Happiness and Enjoyment in Life

Remember 5 fingers for 5 secrets to stay happy and enjoy your life.

There are times when we get angry, frustrated and sad. Most of the time it is because of the situation, environment and people we are uncomfortable with. We have started becoming less and less happier day by day. If you want to stay happy and enjoy your life then I have good news for you. I’ll elaborate about the 5 simple secrets to stay happy in your life. It is really simple. I want you to remember your 5 fingers because I have 5 points for you to stay happy. The fingers in your hands are Thumb, Grooming, Middle, Ring and Little fingers.

1. Opposite values are complimentary to each other (Thumb Finger):

Everything has two sides. A coin cannot have only one side. You wouldn’t know what sweet is until you know what is bitter. You feel the presence of love after you know how you feel to be unloved. You know day exists because you have seen night. Whenever something goes wrong in your life think that opposite values are complimentary to each other and the situation will help you bring good things in your life later on. If nothing bad has ever happened to you then you won’t know how it feels to have good things in life. You may already be in one of the best lifestyle others dream of but you don’t know it simply because you don’t know what it feels to not have those things in your life. So always remember that opposite values are complimentary to each other.

2. Accept people and situation as they are and take rational action (Grooming finger):

There are times when you don’t like the people you are with or you don’t like some particular person. That person may be comfortable with you but you may be very uncomfortable with that person and you lose your temper. At times we may get stuck in traffic jam and the situation gets really frustrating. Nothing is going to happen even if you bitch about the person you don’t like or start complaining about government for lack of facilities given. Since nothing can be done you should accept the people and situation as they are and take rational action. You can plug your ear phone and then listen to the music, look around, talk with other people and enjoy the environment. At any cost just save your mind. Don’t let people and situation take your happiness from you.

3. Don’t be Football of others (Middle Finger):

Don’t get sad just because somebody told you that your new shirt doesn’t look good or you chose wrong decision in buying a new cell phone. It’s you who is wearing your shirt so you should not care what others say. You should never get hyper excited when others praise you and get depressed when other’s comment negatively on you. It’s your life. Don’t care what others tell you. Every person has their own perspective and they may not prefer the same thing you prefer. It differs from person to person. Don’t be football of other means to not go wherever other people hit you. You become a football. They hit you and you move to the direction where they hit you. If they praise you then you become happy or else you get sad when you hear their negative comments. So, don’t be football of others.

4. Don’t seek intention behind others mistake (Ring Finger):

Everybody makes mistake. It’s not only you or me. Actually, we learn from mistakes. So there is no need to blame other for making mistake. At anytime anybody may break a glass so it’s of no use to blame him/her for breaking a glass or making any other mistakes. So not seeking intention behind others mistake is one of the secrets to live a life of happiness and enjoyment.

5. Live in the present moment (Little finger):

“If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.” – Laozi

We either live in the past or in the future. Past things bring stress, anger and regret whereas thinking about the future brings fear in our minds. We are living in the past or future most of the time. We wander what will happen to us in the future or we regret about the past and sometimes get angry about not doing well in the past. Even if we regret whole day nothing is going to happen. Just our minds will be preoccupied with fear, anger, stress, uncertainty and regret. Whenever you experience yourself in the past or future, close your eyes, take a deep breadth and concentrate on your breadth. This will bring your mind in the present state.

So always remember to live in the present moment and this will bring happiness in your life automatically.

  1. I had the first two of your five points in my mind since a very long time but I never knew how to put it in writing.

You have really done amazing sharing the secret with all others. All your points were exceptionally amazing.

Some of them are still in my life and remaining I am gonna place in my heart and apply them. I am also gonna show this one to my aunt from who’s life smile has disappeared. I am sure your great work will surely benefit others who have lost happiness in so called darkness of life.

This makes me recall the lines of Dale Carnegie-

A smile is nature’s best antidote for discouragement.
It brings rest to the weary,
Sunshine to those who are frowning,
And hope to those who are hopeless and defeated.
A smile is so valuable that it can’t be bought,
Begged, borrowed, or taken away against your will.
You have to be willing to give a smile away
Before it can do anyone else any good.
So if someone is too tired or grumpy to flash you a smile,
Let him have one of yours anyway.
Nobody needs a smile as much
As the person who has none to give.

Great work! Worth reading as much times as possible….

    • I am really glad you liked it. Thank you very much for the positive comment, and I hope your aunt will like it as much as you did.

I will keep your comment as a motivation for me to write and help others achieve their goal to become happy and enjoy life.

I must say that your poems are legit. Do what you love.

      Peace! Much love 🙂

  • Before any big festival or event, we get excited. So excited that we can barely wait for it.
Our expectation increases along with excitement, and as a result the event itself doesn’t feel grand. We don’t enjoy the festival as much as we’d thought we’d enjoy.
The festival ends, and you feel sad again that the festival had to end. Basically, you get excited before the event, don’t enjoy the event and feel sad that the event has to end.
We’re not enjoying the event itself, so there’s only sadness during the end. Instead of making it work this way, we should try and focus on the event instead of the before and after. The before and after barely matters. In fact, it doesn’t matter at all.
If we give too much of our focus to before and after, we’ll miss the event. Focusing on event should be the main goal. And it will guarantee that we’ll enjoy the event.
The reason we feel extremely excited before the festival is because we have memory of our past experience during the festival. You expect something similar. But the problem is that expectation reduces the joy of life.
If you expect something before hand, the event itself won’t be as fun as it could have been. The reason past experience were joyful was because you weren’t expecting it. You didn’t know what to expect. So, it was fun and exciting.
However, when you grow up, it doesn’t feel exciting as much because you use the past memory to set the expectation. That’s why you feel extremely excited before the event and feel sad after the event because it didn’t meet your expectation.
For example, we have Dashain and Tihar festival here in Nepal. It just ended and I’m feeling sad somewhere. Feeling sad that I didn’t get to enjoy as much as in the past. That feeling stays only if I compare the present with the past.
For me to enjoy this event, I shouldn’t set any expectation and enjoy it as it comes. I should do this my own way instead of persisting to have it like the past moments.
I was excited when this festival started and I’m sad that this festival had to end. But didn’t enjoy the festival itself.
So, stop setting expectation before the event and instead, focus on enjoying the event itself.
