Learning to Choose Influence

It's 6:25 AM in the morning. It's been more than a year I haven't written anything this early. I used to write during the time when writing was my main focus. My focus has shifted from writing to photography since then. One thing I've realized during this transition is that influence matters a lot. When…

Not Taking Strong Stands

As I was going through the front page of my blog, I came across this article that I wrote some month ago: Never Loan Money to Friends. I read it again. Realized that I should not have taken such a strong stand on it even though it's true to some extent. I like not taking…

The Paradox of Our Times

The paradox of our times
Is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers
Wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints
We spend more, but we have less.

We have bigger houses, but smaller families
More conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees, but less sense
More knowledge, but less judgement
More experts, but more problems
More medicines, but less wellness.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often
We have learnt how to make a living, but not a life.
We have added years to life, but not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back
But have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbour.
We have conquered outer space, but not inner space.
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted our soul.
We've split the atom, but not our prejudice.
We've higher incomes, but lower morals.
We've become long on quantity but short on quality.

These are the times of tall men, and short character;
Steep profits, and shallow relationships.
These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare,
More leisure, but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition.

These are the days of two incomes, but more divorces;
Of fancier houses, but broken homes.
It is a time when there is much in the show window, and nothing in the stockroom.

A time when technology can bring this letter to you,

And a time when you can choose,

Either to make a difference .... or just hit, delete.

They Were All Running For Their Lives

My life was normal before the earthquake, which occurred on 25th April, 2015. I used to work on my laptop, write, program, and do other necessary stuff. I would wake up, use the laptop, sleep, eat and do the same thing again. I used to stay at home all the time. On 25th April, a…

Back After The Earthquake

Sincere apologies for not being able to update my blog. It's been a long time since I last wrote a post. After the 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, I was living outside for more than 72+ hours. It disrupted my writing schedule and everything else. Today I'm back after the earthquake. I'm pretty glad to…

Be Aware of Expectation You Set

We get disappointed when an event doesn't occur the way want it to. Usually it’s cause of our own expectation, but sometimes it might not be our fault. Your friend assures he’ll arrive at your place at 12PM, but he doesn’t. That’s no fault of your own, but  you still get upset and angry at it,…

When The Whole World Is Watching The World Cup

Some years ago, I stopped watching TV because it was too distracting. And during that time, I stopped taking sports seriously, because it wouldn't solve any major problems in the world and wouldn't benefit me in anyway except for the instant gratification and thrill I'd get. So, I stopped watching and taking sports seriously. I'd…

Tiny Human Connection

During Maoist insurgency, there were lots of Army men allotted in the streets of Kathmandu. There used to be lots of Army in streets and random barracks. Our school bus used to pass through those barracks. Everyday, while we used to pass those barracks, we used to wave at those Army men. Some used to…

Impossible is Not Nothing

I used to hate it when my friends in school or other people would say that 'Impossible is Nothing'. Then they would try to prove it by showing examples. Simple example being man landing on moon. Some decades ago, people thought it was impossible for man to reach to the moon. In the same way, people…
